AOPA Planning DC Flyover

To celebrate general aviation and coinciding with the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association’s (AOPA’s) 85th anniversary, on May 11th, AOPA will be flying a conga line of approximately 60 airplanes down the Washington, DC, Mall.

Beginning with a Beechcraft Staggerwing, the line of aircraft will tell the story of general aviation as each flight of 3-4 passes over the show center. The event will be narrated and live streamed on AOPA’s YouTube page by AOPA’s Tom Haines and former CNN correspondent, Miles O’Brien. This event is aimed to bring awareness to, and grow interest in, general aviation. It will be a great opportunity for Flying Clubs to get together, break out the BBQ, pour a few beverages, and enjoy a storied show of general aviation history.
