AOPA Requests Canada Accept BasicMed

In a letter sent to Acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen and Canada’s Minister of Transport Omar Alghabra, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) President Mark Baker and James Ferrier, interim president and CEO of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA), requested that pilots from the United States be able to enter Canadian airspace while flying under BasicMed privileges.

The Board of Directors of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), elected new national officers to lead the world’s largest pilot union for the next 4 years. The election took place during the union’s 49th biennial Board meeting.

UTMB Research Team Receives Funding Award

Dartmouth-led research group including investigators from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston has received a 5-year funding award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), an independent, non-profit organization authorized by Congress to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers, and clinicians with the evidence-based information they need to make better-informed healthcare decisions.

NIOSH Signs MOU with NFPA

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has signed an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Fire Protection Research Foundation on activities related to emergency responder protective clothing and equipment (PPE) and the development of standards concerning first responder safety, deployment, operations, and the protection of emergency personnel.
