Mayo Clinic Recognized with Upper Midwest Emmy

Mayo Clinic has been recognized for outstanding achievement by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
 

During the Upper Midwest Emmys ceremony in mid-October, a Mayo Clinic News Network report titled “A Father’s Gift to His Son” was awarded the Upper Mid west Regional Emmy for Health/Medical – Short or Long Form Content category. The video report chronicles a man from La Crosse, WI, who donated his kidney to his young son less than 2 months before Father’s Day at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, making for a very a special holiday celebration. This report was published on the Mayo Clinic News Network. A Mayo Clinic News Network story titled “Every Day is a Gift and Never Give Up” also was recognized for excellence by being nominated for an Upper Midwest Regional Emmy. The video report features Genaida Ben son, a Mayo Clinic nurse in Radiology who believes music can provide hope and healing. Another Mayo Clinic News Network report, “With a Little Help from His Friends,” received a nomination for excellence. The video chronicles 3-year-old Rhett Flaten, who became the 5,000th patient to receive proton beam therapy since the Rochester Proton Beam Therapy Program began in 2015. Kevin Sullivan, a Mayo Clinic videographer, also received a nomination for outstanding photography, recognized for a compilation of videos published on the Mayo Clinic News Network: “Every Day is a Gift and Never Give up,” “With a Little Help from His Friends” and “Lost Mayo Letter.”
