ALPA Partners with U.S. Officials to Fight Human Trafficking

The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), has announced a new partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Blue Campaign, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to fight human trafficking through the Blue Lightning Initiative (BLI).

Through an interactive training module, ALPA pilots can access the resources needed to help protect the basic right of freedom and bring those who exploit human lives to justice. The Blue Lightning Initiative trains aviation industry personnel to identify potential traffickers and human trafficking victims and to report their suspicions to federal law enforcement. To date, more than 100,000 aviation industry personnel have been trained through the BLI, and actionable tips continue to be reported to law enforcement.
