In Memoriam - Nyla Medlock

AsMA Staff were saddened to hear of the unexpected death of Nyla Medlock, the founder and CEO for Medlock Consulting, a Corporate Member of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA).

She was born in Portales, NM, and graduated from Texas Tech in 1976 with a degree in Psycholinguistics. She then began working at Lubbock Personnel and was a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lubbock program. She founded Medlock Consulting, specializing in the recruitment and placement of corporate medical directors, global medical directors, and preventive and occupational medicine physicians, and also became a founding partner of Global Medical Director.
   Nyla’s awards and honors included the 2019 American College of Occupational and Environmental Presidential Award, being named a Tony Robbins Global Platinum Partner, and being inducted as Grand Officer Dame, Royal Family of Danilo, in Rome, Italy. The Harvard University School of Public Health named the “Nyla Medlock Occupational and Environmental Medicine Fellowship Fund” Award after her in honor of her support to the Harvard Occupational Medicine program. She was also named one of the Nation’s Fifty Most Influential People in Worker’s Compensation and Occupational Medicine. Additionally, she was a Dame Grand Cross in the Order of St. Michael of the Wing, a Hereditary Dame of the Portuguese Royal House, and held a Silver Medal of Merit from the San Marino Red Cross. Her career in the search industry spanned close to 30 years and she was a sponsor of the Life Sciences and Bioengineering Branch (LSBEB) of AsMA.
