Atlanta Food & Wine Festival: This inaugural festival will take place May 11–13, 2012, at 1000 Marietta St. NW.
It is dedicated to showcasing authentic foods, wines, and spirits from across the Southern region. For more information, you can

- Civil Rights tours: 404-521-6600; Civil Rights
tours. Offered by the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, these tours will take you to places that inspired Martin Luther
King, Jr., and brought Atlanta to the forefront of the Civil Rights movement.
- “Gone With the Wind” & Civil War tours: 770-478-4800;
Visit Scarlett. Only 15 miles south of downtown Atlanta,
the official home of “Gone With the Wind”. Offers the Road to Tara Museum, historic homes and plantation community
tours, Gone With the Wind tour, a cyclorama depicting the Battle of Atlanta, and the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum.

includes the Atlanta History Museum, two historic houses, and acres of gardens and trails.
- Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site: 450 Auburn Ave. NE; 404-331-5190;
www.nps.gov/malu. Here you can tour Martin Luther King, Jr.'s, birth home,
historic Ebenezer church, and visit King's gravesite.
- Historic Oakland Cemetery: 248 Oakland Ave. SE; 404-688-2107;
www.oaklandcemetery.com/. The final resting place of many of
Atlanta's noted citizens, settlers, and builders. It boasts sculpture, architecture, and a botanical preserve.
- Atlanta Botanical Garden: 1345 Piedmont Ave. NE; 404-876-5859;

displays, and exhibitions in 30 acres. Includes a Children's Garden, Canopy Walk, and the Edible Garden, which features an outdoor
demonstration kitchen.

Learn about the world's aquatic biodiversity, visit the Learning Loop, and see the various galleries, events, and programs.
- World of Coca-Cola: 121 Baker Street NW; 404-676-5151;

- Piedmont Park: 400 Park Drive NE; see
this page for a map. This central gathering place is home to many of Atlanta's big outdoor events and features include
walking/jogging paths, picnic facilities, playgrounds, two ponds, and a dog park.
- Stone Mountain Park Campground: Highway 78 East Stone Mountain, GA 30086; 770-498-5710;
www.stonemountainpark.com/. A little over 13 miles from downtown Atlanta. Offers 452 campsites ranging from full hookups to
primitive tent sites with access to the park.
