Protocol for the evaluation of coronary artery disease

Abstract

The FAA Civil Aeromedical Institute's Aeromedical Certification Division, as well as aviation medical examiners, receives many inquiries from applicants for information about how to apply for special issuance aeromedical certification after having had a cardiovascular event, such as angina, myocardial infarction, angioplasty and bypass surgery. The paper presents a 10 point outline to assist private pilot applicants with their inquiry about how to regain medical certification.
