The Aerospace Medical Association Foundation
Purpose
The Foundation is organized exclusively for educational and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code to advance the knowledge of aerospace medicine and to promote educational and research programs. Charitable gifts to the
Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA) Foundation are deductible to the extent allowed by law. The Foundation will support the field of
Aerospace Medicine and the Association through financial support of educational and scientific programs, providing scholarships to members in
training, supporting grants for research programs that may help the health, safety, and performance of those in the aerospace environment, and
develop additional support activities as determined by the Board of Directors. In order to achieve these goals, the Foundation will receive
gifts, bequests, grants, and other property and invest these funds in a conservative manner in high performing instruments with low expense
ratios.
Foundation Annual Fund Drive
The AsMA Foundation was created in 2007 to enhance the Association and aerospace medicine through financial
support of educational and scientific programs, scholarships, grants for research, and additional support activities in partnership
with AsMA members and the Association’s affiliate and constituent organizations. The Foundation particularly aims to help those who
are early in their careers. Please consider continuing your support or joining the growing list of Foundation partners during the
annual fund drive by filling out the Donation Letter and mailing it in with
your donation. Thank you.

Mohler Scholarship
The Aerospace Medical Association Foundation announces the Stanley R. Mohler, M.D., Aerospace Medicine Endowed Scholarship.
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide training grants and awards to help students and residents in aerospace medicine fund their
studies or research activities. Full-time students and residents from any country are eligible, but priority will be given to those early in
their careers and to those who are members of the Aerospace Medical Association and the Aerospace Medical Association Student and Resident

Types of Gifts
- Unrestricted Direct Gifts: These funds will be used by the Foundation to directly support the purpose
and goals of the Foundation. These gifts are of critical importance because they can be directed to provide funding to the areas of greatest
need, react to unexpected challenges, or take advantage of unique opportunities.
- Directed or Restricted Gifts: These funds are earmarked by the donor for specific purposes and will be used by the Foundation within the
wishes of the donor and the Foundation’s purpose and goals.
- Endowed Funds: Donors may establish an endowed fund to ensure a gift’s long lasting impact and legacy for the donor and/or the person
honored by the fund. Endowed funds may be named and continue in perpetuity with the investment return used to support the fund’s purpose. The
minimum level for a named endowment is $10,000; however, the endowment may be funded with a series of gifts over time. Earnings will be awarded
once the endowment reaches the minimum required funding level and the funds have been invested one fiscal year.
- Anonymous Gifts: The Foundation will normally prefer to recognize the generosity of donors each year, but any donor that wishes to remain
anonymous may do so by making this request at the time of the donation.
Ways to Give
- Checks or Money Orders: Checks should be made out to the Aerospace Medical Association Foundation at
the address above. A receipt will be issued for all gifts.
- Gifts of Stocks and Securities: In lieu of cash, consider transferring shares of appreciated stock, bonds or other securities to the AsMA
Foundation. In general, the value of the donation is determined by the market value of the gift on the day of transfer to the Foundation.
- Deferred Gifts: The AsMA Foundation can arrange management of Charitable Gift Annuities, Deferred Gift Annuities, Bequests and Life
Insurance, as well as transferring assets of Real Appreciated Property.
- Gifts in Memory of or In Honor Of: To make a donation on someone’s behalf, please contact the Foundation at the
address above and include the name of the person to be honored and the name and address of the person to be notified. We will assure that
your gift is recorded and the appropriate acknowledgements are sent. For faster response, contact the Foundation at 832-752-7651.
- Gifts-in-Kind: The Foundation may accept gifts of goods in kind (tangible personal property). Such gifts may be accepted
only after a review indicates that the property is readily marketable. The Foundation would normally sell or dispose of the donated property
to support the Foundation’s goals. While donors are responsible for the valuation of their properties, sufficient information such as receipts,
appraisal, invoices, or other instruments needs to be provided to the Foundation to substantiate the value of the gift.
