| Two different awards have been given by the Association for outstanding contributions in the field of Aerospace Human Factors. The Paul T. Hansen Award was granted between 1994 and 1998. Beginning in 2000, the Hansen Award was replaced by the Henry L. Taylor Founders Award. Candidates' nominations include the following information: 1) research and publications, 2) special original contributions, (e.g., equipment, techniques, procedures), or 3) general leadership in the field, (e.g., teacher, laboratory director, office in scientific societies, etc.). Nominations are accompanied by three letters of endorsement. Nominations are due by February of each year. The recipient of the award is announced a year in advance. The recipient is then presented with a plaque and honorarium of $500 at the AsHFA annual business meeting luncheon during the year of award. The recipient then delivers a lecture during the luncheon that addresses a scientific or technical topic, provides a historical review of the recipient's area of expertise, or describes personal reflections on important events in the development of the field of aerospace human factors.
